Environment Minister Mark H Durkan has today recommended planning approval for the upgrading of existing open space at Rose Court, Derry.
It will provide for a new children’s play area and landscaping and will involve the redevelopment of existing open space at Rose Court, close to the junctions of Strabane Old Road and Trench Road, Derry.
Mark H Durkan said: “This is welcome news for the ‘top of the hill’ area and adjacent neighbourhoods of the city. The proposal will provide an essential community facility in the heart of this built-up area. The significant investment by Derry City Council further enhances the open space provision in this part of the city. It provides state- of-the-art playing facilities for toddlers and juniors and will be of particular benefit to those with young children in the area. The work will also bring construction jobs in the short term, and revitalise an area of open space.”
