SDLP Foyle MLA Mark H Durkan has welcomed his Executive Colleague’s investment of £292,307 for the Derry City Centre.
Mr Durkan said: “I very much welcome the commitment of £292,307 investment by the Social Development Minister to upgrade the City’s Public Realm works. Work is to benefit the area between Sackville Street and Great James Street which will see new high quality granite paving and benches, improved street and feature lighting, as well as new bins and planters.
“As we begin the New Year, Derry will be pleased to have work beginning on Strand Road 7 January 2015. The project is expected to be complete by the end of March 2015. It is important to ensure that any disruption to residents and businesses, during this time is kept to a minimum.
“In recent times we have seen the wonderful work done along the quay and at the Guildhall, making the City more attractive and vibrant. This investment will complement the work already done to enhance our City Centre aiding local businesses and helping rejuvenate our local economy.”
