Planning website remains available to public during transfer to Councils – Durkan

Admin 2 Press Releases, Stormont

The planning website will be available throughout the transitional period 1 April to 6 April 2015.
However, there will be limited ability to search and monitor planning applications from close of play 1 April until close of play Saturday 4 April 2015.
DOE is currently undertaking a programme of essential enhancements for the Planning Portal to ensure it can respond to the legislative changes being introduced by the Planning Act (NI) 2011.
As the legislation does not take effect until 1 April 2015, these changes cannot be deployed into either the internal or public facing systems until that date.
Minister Durkan advised: “I want to reassure the public that this planned transitional period from 1 to 6 April will keep disruption to an absolute minimum.
“Staff will still be available in the local offices to provide information about current applications either in person or by telephone during normal business hours.
“This minor reduction to normal service and internet access is vital to ensure that the new Councils can take over  responsibility for planning applications on 1 April 2015 and I remain committed to ensuring that it occurs as scheduled.”
